We don't have a smart phone. We do have a cell phone that costs $5/month for all the minutes we care to use. We are retired and don't commute. We often go on mini-vacations, a couple of days, and turn on the cell phone to make a few calls. You might ask "Why did you get a Prius Three instead of a Two?" I'm beginning to wonder that myself but the navigation is nice to have and we love the SiriusXM.

I tried the prepaid phone example suggested by another forum member but couldn't get it to work. So tell me something about your use of the Entune Apps that might encourage me to get a smartphone with a data plan costing $35 to $50 per month.

I have only just picked up my Prius. I have played around with the apps and to be honest I can only think of using the traffic app on a regular basis.

IT Systems Specialist here... I have had my Prius less then a month as well but I like my gadgets and toys.
I haven't bothered with Entune period. I installed the app on my phone and setup an account and then never used it.
It constantly was trying to connect to my car, constantly sending notifications, and I never once used it in the car.
Maybe that will change in the future, but I have removed the app from my phone.
I don't need traffic where I am, and really unless they add more stuff to it I will probably never use it.

Traffic and Pandora are the top two for me. I occasionally use the weather app and I'll probably start using the sports one to get the NBA scores. I know I can just use the aux input for pandora but it's easier to use the head unit.

Bing was useful once. I needed to find a branch of my bank in a new town and through Entune it showed me the banks that were in the area, I selected my bank and it went straight to the nav and showed me where. Don't know how often I will need that but it was useful and easier than getting out the Nexus.

I don't use any of my Entune apps. I find that it's much faster using my smartphone apps instead.

I use my ipod and the radio for music, and use the navigation as a map that I always leave on. I played with pandora but prefer ipod.

The only thing i use is sports scores sometimes. But you can also check stocks, traffic and fuel.

What else can you do with $700 a year?

Entunes is fun toy. Nice to have Bing so you can look stuff up and then navigate to it which overcomes the out of date Prius nav database. Traffic is nice but if you are retired you don't care about traffic jams and reroutes. Pandora is kind of lame, XM subscription is better.

On the flip side, smart phones are FUN and USEFUL with all the cool apps so there's a big FUN and UTILITY factor for the smart phone and a small fun and utility factor for Entunes.
