With the constant noise of fireworks at night in our little town I wondered how much money do we Americans send up in smoke for the 4th of July

    According to this source
How much Americans are spending on Fourth of July (cnbc.com)

Fireworks lit today gone tomorrow--$1.5 Billion
Food for the 4th- $7.52 Billion
    Alcohol for the 4th - $1.4 Billion

Total - $10.42 Billion gone in a day

    Who knew?

(The article is dated 2021 and this was during Covid- the money spent is probably significantly higher in 2023)
US sales of fireworks expected to increase by $100 million in 2023 | The Hill
"The American Pyrotechnics Association (APA) said in a release on Friday that consumer fireworks retailers have reported that they expect sales to increase significantly this year, up from the $2.3 billion it brought in last year. That figure was itself an increase of about $100 million from the $2.2 billion in sales in 2021. "

Looking forward to spending the day watching the 4th of July parade and seeing everyone in the community downtown.

In 2022, about 134.55 billion gallons (or about 3.20 billion barrels)1 of finished motor gasoline were consumed in the United States, an average of about 369 million gallons per day (or about 8.78 million barrels per day).

    Lock-down on the 4th?
    Prohibit travel or celebrations?
    Um....OK.
Put it on a bumber sticker.

I would offer one bit of free advice.
We live in a nation where neighbors do not know theirs.

We also live in a nation with more than a few recent combat vets - meaning REAL combat vets who saw REAL combat - not people like yours truly, who are combat vets by DOT standards.

GET TO KNOW your neighbors before detonating your fireworks.
Dogs too are sometimes not pleased by wanton abandonment where suden, loud bangs are concerned.
If you live where wild-fires are a thing, that should also be a factor.

    FREEDOM is a right!
    With rights.....comes RESPONSIBILITY.

    Happy 4th of July!

My mom's fam was from SoCal and a couple of relatives lived walking distance from what they called Dizzyland. Visits to them was a free fireworks show every night.
