    What a bunch of idiots!

With modern unit-body cars, there are few safe places to hook up a tow strap. A strong yank also doesn't help things either.

I've seen morons hook a chain to a tie rod to pull a car or truck out of a ditch. It's good for a laugh.

The beauty of a Geo Storm.
I've seen this before but never actually wondered. Did they hook it directly to the bumper?

this is a direct quote from my wife upon viewing this. " what a bunch of dumb asses" upon which she turned and walked out of the computer room. Maybe living and driving in snow country years ago conditioned her to view the whole show with some skepticism

The truely sad thing is it looks like they could have shoveled a little snow and driven the car out of that spot, it wasn't that bad!

My apologies to Jayman, Frank, Canuck, and Tideland. I've looked as hard as I can but I would swear the license plate looks Canadian. Looks like three digits, a royal crest, and three more. At first I thought it was the crest of Maryland, but I don't think their plate look like that.

Can anyone recognise te origins of the plates?

Of course, the actions of a few should not be held against the many. [insert political reference here]

ya it's a bunch of goofs from British Columbia. Had to go and look at the plate on the van right at the start. Wavy flag in the middle is the give away. If it's from the coastal area you have to realize we get snow so infrequently this sort of idiocy shows thru pretty fast.

but the car is from Quebec is it not?

The licence plate of the Honda Prelude parked in the garage next to the Dodge Caravan is written in black ink.
The car's licence plate is also in black with insurance tags on the top left

    Tony:

You certainly don't have to apologize to me! I've long held the belief that stupidity is endemic, and unfortunately is on the rise. We just appear to have more of it in our political leaders.

Much like how former PM Jean Chretien refused to acknowledge the existence of the "brain drain" in Canada, calling them "imaginary." Then a former Canadian, and a Nobel Prize winner, gave a brilliant speech at Laurier where he told the graduating audience that he was a figment of their imagination. Then he encourage them to take jobs in the U.S.A.

My favorite was how current PM Paul Martin (Mr. Shipping Tycoon Who Doesn't Pay His Taxes) gave a speech for Remembrance Day at one of the remaining Canadian Forces bases, I believe near Halifax. He made the following blooper all throughout his long-winded speech, and you could clearly see the eyes rolling in the background.

PM Martin referred to the invasion of Normandy as the invasion of Norway. Apparently, Norway was an Evil threat but we certainly kicked their butt.

Given the sad shape the Canadian Army is now in, I rather doubt they could take on Norway. Or Bali for that matter.

Wow, your wife sounds remarkably cool. I would have loved to see her walk right up to their faces and say that, then drive off.

I've sometimes wondered if stupidity is becoming more common or if it's just that our ability to capture stupidity on video media and distribute it has improved.

As noted earlier by Evan, didn't it look like there were more than enough guys to clear the snow away and manually push the car back onto the road?

We don't get that much snow in San Antonio, but heck, I would have thought of that!

Thanks for the chuckle. Hope the damage wasn't too expensive!
I'd submit this video as proof that cold weather does indeed slow down brain function! Hilarious!
