can't get enough of these battery threads myself. wouldn't it be great if we could build a chart with all known battery failure parameters and make it a sticky? or maybe right on the cover of priuschat, the first thing you see when you come here. that would sell some cars!

The one in our 2006 Prius was replaced at 5 years and 86,000 miles. That tidbit was confirmed by both the CarFax and the dealer who performed the work. We've only owned the car a few weeks so I can't supply any more details regarding the replacement..

How will you find this information useful if you do not know anything about the HV batteries that are running fine ?

I just want to know at what mileage it failed and how old the Prius was.

Not if the Prius is still running on the original battery.

^^ You have not answered my question, but I did come across a somewhat related datum yesterday:

Toyota has recycled about 20,000 HV batteries to date. That is truly impressive when you remember that somewhere in the vicinity of 1% of cars are taken off the road each year due to accident, and Toyota has sold over 5,000,000 Prius.

Overall that's a very small number of battery replacements. One of the reasons we're confident it will be long time before the car needs another battery replacement, if ever.
