The rear door outside handle has a small and a large piece:

    - the small piece is the outside handle cover. This has a T30 Torx screw holding it place. Then that piece is supposed to come loose.

    - the larger piece is the remainder of the outside handle. That is supposed to slide towards the rear of the car, then pull out.

What color will you repaint the car with?

behind it has a black plastic housing... with a torx bit in...

i have loosened it up but nothing happens...

the small piece doesnt even move at all..... and the big piece cant obviously come out because the small piece is still in...

its totally different to the front handles... apart from the torx bit but even that isnt in same place,,,

    if that makes sense..

thanks for the comments guys and for the help.

It looks as if you're doing a thorough job!

That means you'll be putting the car in an oven, no?

Make sure that the hybrid battery can take those temps or you'll be in the market for a new one of those.

no i just use infra red lamps all round, think that works better as most new cars cant be baked at high temps...

how do you go about painting it over, do you just sand the clear off and use prepsol then spray base?

im going to repaint my 01 prius similar to this and possibly same color

for the rear door handles, the bezels itself can come out and you can paint it.

if you live down south like in florida you wont need to use the infrared lamp unless you plan on driving the car the next day, once temps are above 80 degrees the paint will flash dry in 10 minutes, and take about 72 hours to cure at 80+ degrees, this is if you mix the activator correctly.
i painted my 05 accord hybrid and it flashed real fast about 10 minutes or so.

"Bonnet," "boot," and check out the location of the steering wheel as well as the license plates (not reversed) on the wall in the pics. I don't think Killer Prius is from Florida!

    Bonnet = hood
Boot = trunk if sedan; hatch if hatchback

It sounds like you still haven't figured out how to remove the rear door handles. After you have loosened the Torx screw, what would happen if you gently pounded on the screw (using a center punch) to push the small piece off the door?

The illustrations do not show removal of the small outside handle piece that the Torx screw is attached to. Looking at the bottom illustration, the little triangle-shaped piece to the right is the piece that is secured with the Torx screw.
