    Hello,

I'm very new to all things car related, but I do want to replace my car radio with an aftermarket one. However, I don't know if I need a specific type or it I need something other than the radio so that I will be able to control it using the screen.

    I have a 2005 Pruis.

    Thanks in advanced!

Probably the easiest and perhaps lowest cost would be adding an amp and replacing speakers. You get the power of a new radio with the control that's built in to your Prius.

i don't think you can control an aftermarket radio w/ the MFD, but you can get a metra axxess that will allow the steering wheel buttons to work w/ a compatible radio

I bought a Chinese 2 din GPS/DVD/NAV radio unit didn't need the axis unit. It wired right up to the steering wheel wires. Get the harness wires and the trim pieces looks good. Doesn't work with the MFD. Gives radio off indication. Oh the wire harness has a resister so the AC works.
