I'm trying to build a 3-axis graph that shows Date (month) in the X axis, and MPG and outside temperature in 2 Y axis. Then using a second, different colored line, I show the same information with the MPG from the MFD.

I remember seeing a graph exactly like this in the Priuschat forums. I think the author was Tideland Prius or some admin/super hypermiler here at the forums. I tried searching the forums for the exact thread but had no luck.

The graph looks like steep mountain peaks and shows how the temperature and yearly cycle influences MPG (valleys during winter and peaks during summer). Well, now I want to make a graph exactly like that.

    1. Can anybody find me that graph (by Tideland?) here in the forums?
    2. How do I create a 3-axis graph in excel?

Major props to anyone that can help me. Thanks!!

In Excel make an XY (Scatter) chart as usual. Select one of the data series in the chart that you want to put on the right hand side vertical axis. Click "Format", then "Selected Data Series", then the "Axis" tab in the "Format Data Series" window that just popped up, and then click to choose "Secondary axis". Hope this helps. Good luck! :)

...and depending on your graph settings...

when you follow 2009Prius' instructions you can get something like this (click to see full size):
