How to tell if a Prius has the Advanced Technology Package

    Are those bumps on the front bumper under the headlights on all Prius Fives or just ones that have the ATP?

    What about those two buttons on the lower right of the steering wheel, are those on all Prius Fives or just ones that have the ATP?

    Is there any other way to tell, i.e. digit in the VIN, etc.?

    If it has ATP, there is a cameras above the inside mirror and a sensor button on each side of the front bumper. They are tough to see when your approaching from opposite directions with a closing speed of 140 MPH.

    If it has the advanced technology package, the toyota emblem on the nose of the car will be flat meaning it has the DRCC which is part of the package.

    I see, so those bumps are the headlamp cleaners?

    What do they do exactly, spray windshield washer fluid?

    Yes, they spray washer fluid on the headlights.

    There is a button to activate them or when you use washer fluid on the windshield when the headlights are on they self activate.

    Looks like from the Toyota website in the build your own Prius section if I click on ATP or not, those sensors on the sides of the front bumper and the two buttons on the lower right of the steering wheel and another button under the start button also appear only on the ATP.

    Yeah those are all ATP things. The circles on the fenders are the sonar for the self park. The button under the start button is for the self park. And the buttons on the lower right of the steering wheel are for following distance when using DRCC and the other is for activating LKA.

    Or...you can remove the fuse so they don't spray all over your hood when you use the windshield washers with the headlights on! ;)

    Now we're getting into accessories and modifications lol. Removing the fuse is simple enough, and those on PC will read about it and probably do it, but Toyota should really make it standard so they don't come on just because the headlights are on. They took a neat feature and failed on execution making them operate the way they do stock.

    Don't forget that Canadian Technology Package vehicles are harder to spot.

    They look the same as the Premium w/ Solar (kinda like your Three w./ SR) but with the AT stuff (minus the LKA camera and LED headlights w/ washer fluids and 17" alloys). IOW, they look like a Four w/ SR and AT.

    Easiest way to spot a five with advanced tech pack in the U.S. is by the sensors on the front bumper for the parking assist.

    Not really any different from V/Five with ATP vs. those without. The IPA bumper sensors are an easy giveaway.

    The absolute easiest way to determine whether a 3rd Gen Prius has the ATP would be by the aura of awesomeness that surrounds it. True story. :D

    All you have to do is mention that "those ATP's are kinda pricey for what you get!"

    The ATP owners will be the ones with the red faces and irate comments. ;)

    I didn't know that auto activated like that, guess I'll have to watch next to to see it. I don't really notice anything on my hood from using the windshield washer and I always have my lights on..
