News was just released that the Chevrolet Volt integrates the gasoline engine into its drive train. More specifically, at some speeds it contributes to the propulsion effort, but only once the battery pack has run down and the engine has turned on to run the generator. The electric motor never drives the wheels on its own, only as a hybrid, using both motor and engine.

I am looking for any glimmer of hope that makes the Chevrolet Volt worth while in comparison to the Toyota Prius.

NOTE: Part of my frustration is that GM made an electric car already, see it in this

What I find more interesting is that you own a 2009 Prius, Model 3 with a Solar Roof. What's MOST interesting, however, is that you list your location as New York. Your IP address is 122.163.216.73 and that IP is from Delhi, India.

Other than that, good luck with your Volt.

OK show off, where's my IP registered? :)

And regarding this thread, there are many many many other threads drawing comparisons between the Prius and Volt.

That's odd: your IP is listed to "The Shire." :D

Actually, if you want to see some showing off, the IP you registered and mostly post from is listed to the city South of you and you posted a few times from the West Coast.

Oh I've just checked. It says Derby!?! Which is a small town about 60 miles away. It connects through Leeds which is a city between where I live and Deby. Strange.

Not sure why I've posted from the West Coast though. Don't tell the girlfriend!

Some people are squeamish about posting location specifics so I was trying to be vague. But basically, your registration IP and two separate posting IPs point to Leeds. Multiple IPs can sometimes be caused when a provider refreshes IPs.
The West Coast reference is Blackpool. Two IPs point to there.

So even when my provider refreshes my IP address it is still pretty accurate to where I live?

Does that would mean jamesford is very likely to be based in India rather than somewhere near New York?

What??? Why would someone from India be posting these? Does this mean that someone who clearly couldn't be affiliated with GM in any way is orchestrating a campaign?

Since this is in the Prius sub-forum, please change the title to "How will Toyota Prius plugin be better than Chevy Volt plugin hybrid?"

It's what I'm paid to do. Oh wait. . .
The smarter batch of spammers will make a test post or two into a forum just to test the waters and see if they get banned. If nothing happens, they are free to post again. We get this alot. It's because of this that Danny implemented the "must have more than 5 posts to insert an image and a link" rule. Prior to that, people could/would post obscene images or create a first post that's nothing but links to their products or links that installed viruses. It gets annoying for regular people who want to join because they just bought a Prius and can't yet post a picture of their new car, but the overall benefit outweighs that little annoyance.

So this is likely just some smarter-than-average spammer then? Darn, I was looking forward to some good conspiracy-theory repartee... :)

As GM continues to offshore more and more of their IT work, many Indians DO have an interest in GM succeeding.
