I bought my 06 in CA and have the 10 year battery warranty. Since moving to AZ , I've always wondered... Would the 10 year warranty be honored in AZ? The warranty should follow the car, right? I'd ship it back to CA for a new battery, if that's what it took.

once it's registered in AZ, the AZ warranty would apply. Only way to keep CA warranty is to keep it registered in CA

Perhaps they were referring to the batteries for the flashlight they keep in the car? (n)

Here are the requirements as I understand*

    (1) You must be registered in CARB state
    (2) Car must be CA-certified version

So in AZ you are in violation of the most important Rule-1 (not CARB for 2006)
You would have to re-register in a CARB state, based on my understanding

    * See FORD hybrid warranty for more clear definition of rules, and someone here posted a letter from Toyota that seems to confirm my interpretation that Toyota language is equal to FORD language. In any case, your case is not a winner re: CARB, but hey see what Toyota says if the need arises .

Re - registration into a carb state makes sense. I think this should be confirmed to work.

Would a car originally bought in a non carb state then registered into ca apply?

    My interpretation is:
Yes sometimes, CARB warranty should apply to a Prius bought outside of CARB, however, the Prius must still be a CA-certified version, and the Prius must be currently registered in a CARB state. The kicker is I do not know how to tell when a Prius is CA-certified version. But I am thinking my 2006 might be CA-certified version bought in VA. Does me no good living in VA however.

So far we have had so few people posting about these unqiue cases, that it's hard to verify.
We do have one current poster like this in MD and she has not reported back since last Monday....waiting....waiting.

All CA-certified cars have a sticker on the inside of the hood, it should say the car is CA-emissions certified. I'll take a picture of mine later and post it for you. This car is from TX with a CA-emissions sticker.
