I have a 2007 Prius and the red triangle showed up. It has less than 50,000 miles. I noticed that almost right after I start it up the hybrid battery fan kicks on. This leads me to believe that maybe one or more cells in the hybrid battery are overheating due to charging problems. Is there a way I can check this out without going to the dealer? What do you think?

There is enough power in the Battery to kill you. How sure are you that you are all the expert you need?

welcome! yes, you can buy an obd connector with tech stream software to run on a windows laptop. that will tell you everything a dealer will be able to discover. all the best!(y)

If you only have 50,000 miles on the car, most likely Toyota will extend some type of goodwill warranty to you if you request. They will stand behind their product with that few of miles.....you just have to ask.
