The AA battery is for scale. This will hide away nicely in the rear storage compartment, under the floor, while providing more than enough power to drive a 10" sub. Now I just need it to warm up in PA so I can buy a custom sub enclosure for the right side cubby.

    Nice!
Just curious- where/how are you mounting the 10" sub?
    Any photos?

There's a guy in PA who makes a custom cubby enclosure. His board name is MGB4Tim. He has a page showing the fabrication process and finished product:

Gen 3 Prius right Subwoofer Enclosure

Unfortunately, his shop is unheated, and so he had to stop making them over the winter. I'm hoping he starts up again soon.

Yeah, it looks like he does real quality work. He was advising another PC member on fabricating their own box, and he mentioned that it "should be strong enough to stand on". That's the kind of product I want in MY car. ;)
Now I just have to decide what driver to purchase. I'll need a 10" dual voice coil sub, with each coil at 2Ohms in order to take full advantage of the amp.

    Yeah MGB4Tim,

You have people standing in line for your Sub Enclosure !!!

Hire a local kid to do the lay ups, get a wood burning stove in the shop !!;)

Does anyone know of another source for this type of sub enclosure?

Wish there was a pre-made driver's side sub enclosure. It seems that that would be a better location to maintain access to the battery.

Hopefully you won't ever NEED access to the battery, whereas you are more likely to need access to the flat repair kit on the driver's side. Either way, the sub enclosure Tim makes is held in place by gravity and friction, so it's no big deal to move it out of the way to get to the battery.

Yeah, securing it could be an issue.
I think I read about using the hook side of Velcro works ok.
If Tim ever gets back into production I'll have to come up with something to keep it in place while I'm pulling close to 1G lateral forces on the cloverleafs... ;)

I agree about the left hand cubby would be the preferred location.
Why is there no business out there producing these?
There are dollars to be made...

I made mine with Tim's input... didn't turn out nearly as well but it was my first time glassing. The worst part was taking the mold as I did it in the winter in the attached garage which stunk up the entire house for a couple of days. :(

I did use a strip of thick Velcro (loop-side) on the underside which holds it securely in place.

Used a Hertz 10" single coil driver. Mated with a JL HD 900/5 amp, is totally awesome. The biggest issue I had was making it too big (volume-wise). Had to cut it down and add material to cut down the size. It would have been less obtrusive if I got it right the first time.

    Good luck!
