    welcome!
read the trouble codes with a prius aware scanner. tech stream is best, especially if you diy.

otherwise, elm and torque are okay. service manual with code explanations and troubleshooting are at techinfo.toyota.com

    all the best!(y)

With the scanners I have used I don't have trouble codes. I may have only used a scanner that reads engine codes

Your picture is the same as 1000 others here. You need a scanner that can read ALL Toyota codes, not just the emissions codes. Get that and tell us the codes. Do not disconnect the 12v battery. You will erase some or all of the codes.

What device will read all the codes. Or is that a dealership only device

If you do a forum search on "Mini VCI", "VxDIAG", and/or "Openport" you will have search results spilling out of your computer screen and all over your desk.

For those of you who are following this thread I have an update. I pulled the passenger rear wheel hub bearing and pulled the speed sensor cable. Found it corroded. I cleaned it and drove it to work. It sat in the 100 degree heat for 12 hours and on my way home the alarm lights went off. They stayed off for 10 miles then came on. I went to work the next morning and no lights for 10 minutes of my drive then they came back on. So......bad connection?
