I`m a long time lurker on this forum and bought a 2016 Gen 4 Prius after reading this forum. It is not a car I would ever have thought about buying but after lurking I thought yes this is the car for me. 60+ to the gallon.(UK) so far. I loved it. My other half (`er indoors) had a Nissan Leaf and loved it but always had range anxiety even on a round trip of 40 miles.
    I made a big mistake!
My Prius was blocking `er indoors Leaf in driveway so I said take the Prius. MISTAKE !!!!!! .She loved the Prius and sold her Leaf and the Prius was now her car. I was relegated back to my 2004 Nissan Primera.(not sure of USA model) Anything for a quiet life.
Thanks to reading on this forum about the PHV(Prime) I thought I want one. It was released in the UK April 2017 and I put my order in. It arrived June and I picked it up.I drove it home and have not sat my backside in it since. `er indoors had one drive in it and it was her new car.
The good news is I got my Gen 4 back.
The title is a bit tongue in cheek so take it with a pinch of salt.
If not for this forum I would have bought a Ford or Nissan ect. If not for this forum I might have keep my two new cars.
`er indoors over 4000 miles 92% ev and average 615.75 mpg calculated by hand and I`m on 62.4 by the on board computer in the Gen 4.
I love my Gen 4 but I want my PHV back.
Thanks to all for pointing me to a car I would never have thought of driving.

The Leaf is gone. I was offered a silly price from the stealership for trade in so it was sold privately.
Still took a big hit on price. I would never buy another new Leaf again simply because of the deprecation.
Nice car to drive otherwise though.

I made a comment about this Leaf resale value a while back... while searching for my PHEV, I noticed TONS of Leafs selling at about $10k only 2-3 years old 15-20Kmiles. I think people buy those cars for the TAX CREDIT (and I have to wonder about how many don't even owe that much in tax and therefore lose out on part of this "tax credit") and totally forget about what the car can actually do and about things like depreciation, whether it actually fits their needs, etc.

I hear about people sitting for hours in their Telsa's and other EV's on longer trips, simply waiting for a charge.YUK. Another down side of this, is I recently took a trip where I tried to charge my PiP Prius and found all local chargers either occupied or not working. I would not have a car I couldn't drive all day if necessary--

That's the major challenge that keeps a lot of potential car buyers off EVs. Long charging time.

I will only buy such a car, if I had other cars sitting around

We buy our cars to serve us. Waiting on a charge or buying fuel are overhead. No problem if charging is done while we're doing something else or the pump running while we take a bathroom break.
