How did you clean the injectors? What spark plugs did you use? Did you overfill oil?

Sounds like the spark plug wires are on the wrong plugs to me.

I changed plugs at 145k on my Gen 2 and I don't think the plug wires can reach the wrong plugs. But one might not be connected securely or some other discontinuity in the plug wires/caps/coils. As always, you need to read the codes if you don't want to spend weeks and money guessing.

This means there are diagnostic codes available. Please find out what those codes are and report them back to us.

    Is your 2009 a 3rd generation body?

If so, I will move the thread to the appropriate forum.

A 2009 4th Gen would need to have been from "Back to the Future"?? :D

I'm asking because other countries don't use model years so a 2009 could be a Gen 2 or a Gen 3 depending on when it was bought during the year. I need to know where to move this thread to.

What fluid was used, do you know? Should be TOTOTA ATF WS. Toyota warns to use this, nothing else. There are a few brave/foolish owners that have used alternative fluids, with no apparent problems in the short term. I don't think wrong fluid would cause your symptoms, at least if it was refilled properly.

Your items 3 and 4 seem most likely culprits. Maybe they neglected to properly reconnect one of the spark plug wires? That'd be my first guess. I doubt the wires would be mixed up: no way they could stretch to another plug, and it would be very obvious.

Hard to switch on the plug side. Not so hard on the other end.

I assume they mean at the distributor? The other ends of the spark plug wires.

Yeah that's what I assume @bbald123 is thinking of too. Distributor cable connection was notoriously easy to screw up. Except there isn't one, lol.

True, but how can this be a factor in op's problem? There is no way to disconnect, mix up or even access the other end of those wires. Are we done, lol?

Whether there is a cable switch or a loose cable or some other problem, the op's description of the problem sounds very much like an ignition firing order problem. Now we're done.

Are you a mechanic? What's the difference between a loose cable or a plug that's not torqued right? Or a wrong spark plug?

How did you get to the loose cable or distributor that the car doesn't have?

Many things can cause a misfire, and everything the op recently did has to be looked at
