If Mr. Toyota had asked me about those blue charging lights....

We all see those three blue battery status lights that blink on the passenger windshield side. When off it means the big battery is full of electrons.....or maybe not.

From occasional time to time I don't see those lights on in the morning and assume battery full, only to get in and at startup see the display "Charging stopped". I know its not that we started charging very late at night for full charging cycle, nor a power failure as we have a backup genset.

Now if Mr Toyota had asked my opinion on this matter, the engineer in me would have suggested adding a fourth LED, blinking green charging 100% complete no issues, blinking red charging failure/premature stopped. The blinking LED extinguish when start button pressed. As it is now no LEDs on can mean several things. Granted this is not a show stopper keeping me awake at night, as we have that ICE to carry on if battery is not charged.

But as I say, Mr Toyota didn't ask for my input....sigh.:(

agree - some enhanced status/info would be much appreciated. green/yellow/red maybe? how about an LED number - %charged visible or selectable somewhere?

You can get a % charge but it only shows while in Ready mode and only when looking at a specific MFD page and adjusted some settings. It's not On by default. If you haven't done so and would like to know how, here's the instructions.

Documentation does not appear to be a Toyota strong point.
Like much technical documentation, it is written from an engineer perspective, not a user perspective.

The blue lights aren't really battery status lights. As we know, they only blink while charging. In the charging port is a green light that is illuminated while actually charging, as does the green light on the brick on the charging cable.

It doesn't only light when charging the HV battery but also when the HV battery heater is on. It lights up when powered is drawn.
