If the Gen IV PiP launch is June 2016, when would the battery specs get locked down?

Assuming a June 2016 PiP launch, does anyone know when they'd have to finalize the battery specs?
Six months earlier? Nine months? A lot of reliability testing has to be going on right now. If they make any serious changes, all of that testing has to be repeated.

Anyone have knowledge of the lead time required to put a battery into production (as opposed to ignorant speculation).

Well since the demonstration PiP was finalized in January 2011 and the first production was actually shown at the Frankfort Motor Show in September 2011, I'd say about 9 months. Remember the demonstration PiP has 5.2kWh as 3 battery packs while the production model settled on the single 4.4kWh battery pack.
