I have a 2005 Prius. I'm told the scheduled maintenance from the dealer is not necessary and is just a scam to get your money. I've never had the transmission fluid changed, should I. Also, I'm taking it to a mechanic to change the oil and replace the tail lights. Is changing the tail lights a "no brainer" and what should I expect someone to charge me for doing this?

Schedule maintenance from the dealer should be fairly routine. Just make sure they stick to the schedule and charge you what is necessary based on the manual.

The taillight bulb can be changed by yourself. It's very very elementary.
