I'd taken the extension cord for my Engine block heater out of the car while my wife used it last weekend.

I forgot to put it back in the car. I remembered that this morning on the way to work....at 6:30am.

I couldn't stand it and stopped at a local supermarket and bought a 25ft. cord just so I could plug the car in while at work today.

    Help me!

How cold does it get where you live and how much does having the EBH help your fuel savings?

If saving fuel is sick then we need to infect more people.

    It CAN get pretty cold--rarely sub-zero though. Today a blistering cold....ah, mid-50s.

How much does it help? Hard to say exactly. I think it's going to give me about a 2mpg boost over last year judging by November's numbers. But December's numbers aren't going to be as good thanks to some long highway speed driving by my wife.

Trust me, stopping for an extension cord for a day like today is sick...no way to rationalize it.

as soon as i write the grant and get funding for it. could be a while as i assemble the top team of medicinal chemists to synthesize some new molecules for me to test in vivo.

until then, try a a good dopamine D2 receptor blocker and see if that helps. (tell me you get the humor in that...)

You think that's bad... When I get home, whether I drove the Prius or not, I say "Good Night Princess", and in the morning I say "Good Morning Princess" hahaha Meanwhile my truck just sits there unloved hahahaha...

I get teased at work constantly, because I don't have kids, and I talk about "her", her new oil change, or a new sticker, or something "we" did together over the weekend LOL

    I AM SICK!!!

Just go into the confessional on your back porch and self-flagellate for 15 minutes.

    No one need know.

One of my friends made me stop talking once when I scolded my car for not recongizing me and the SKS and asked me who the hell "prometheus" was.

    my car!

    His reaction was funny. :-P

I have to get my block heater in still. *sigh*

Evan, do we have doctor/patient relationship here? I mean, what I tell you won't go anywhere... right?

Well, today I actually saw my new 06 Barcelona Red Prius. I am truly in love. Or is it lust? The fact that I can't drive it off the lot is killing me. It only shows one mile on the odometer. But I actually sat in it today. Turned it on and saw it come to life. It was a truly mind blowing experience. One thing that I had never read anywhere was that neat little button on the screen for the radio that keeps the volume the same no matter what the station is sending. I have so wanted that for so many years and lo and behold it's there.

Ok, you get the idea. It was rough having to get out of "my" Prius and leaving it behind. I hope they treat it well at the dealership. I can tell I wasn't the only one, however. There were about ten Prius's there all waiting for January to roll around.

Thanks doc for listening. And please keep it just between us. Ok?

And one of the best things about Priuschat is that it keeps us inside the house and apart from normal people most of the time :p

My word is my bond...... BTW, what was your insurance number again?

p.s. That "neat little button" was promised for the '04-'05 Prius (ASL=Auto Sound Leveling), but it didn't happen until the '06MR---I'd sure like to have it.

actually a block heater can make a huge difference if your commute is short enough. have been tracking mileage for a short 8 mile commute. last week, weather cold and dry... now last week had to factor in ice scraping time...no easy way to get around that but mileages for one way trips as LOW as 33mpg. temps in the high 20's

now this week temps are so far 48, 51, 54, 50, and 50...am seeing MORE than a 15 mpg increase over the same route. tonight was best yet at 52 mpg.

now realize that short trips like this can be fairly inaccurate so will hope to have averages for RT's for 4 days minus the morning commute on Tues. had to take a couple side trips so tossed those results plus it was colder at just 43º
