    Sorry for another "importing topic".
I was just wondering if importing from US to Canada (Ontario) still makes sense given the curent rebates that one get in Ontario currently?

    Thank you.

OK, lets assume a "package B" or "special edition Premium". Canadian price is $32,530. US price is about $26,400, depending on negotiations. ;) If you buy in the US you don't get the eco rebate. Duty is 6.9% or about $1750 (depending on Can dollar value at time of import). Ignore GST, you pay that either way. You have to have DRL function installed, so allow $500 for that, and you have to get it "inspected" so allow $250 for that. So this makes a total difference of $4500 minus whatever the Ontario govt. gives you. In effect the Canadian price would reduce to $28030. So you have about $1630 to cover your costs of travelling. I priced a vehicle with HID headlamps (California price), so that's an extra with the US car. You might do better with some negotiations. The Canadian dealers don't seem to want to deal much, but some US ones will.

You can't change the odometer readout, so it will read miles. You also can't change the fuel economy readout, so it will read mi/gal. You can use the button on the dash to cause the speedo to read km/hr.
