Impossible to get HUD/HDD without Solar Roof or 17" wheels?

So, I'm shopping for a 2012 Prius. Two options I'd really like to get are the head up display (HUD) and the 7" HD Nav screen (HDD)

But if I am reading the brochure correctly, these options are only available as part of a bundle with the Solar Roof OR the 17" alloy wheels... am I right?

I really don't want the roof or the 17's... but it looks like I have to choose one or the other in order to get the HUD & HDD.

    Am I reading this correctly?

You could get the advanced PiP. It has HUD and HDD.

True, except the PiP is out of my price range... in fact, the Prius Four/Five is already pushing the edge of my price range... I just wish I could get HUD a'la carte without getting the solar or tech pkg....

While the HUD is nice, its not really that big a deal.

HUD is nice. i love it. so i do see it as a big deal myself. however don't worry too much about the 7 inch nav. it's total garbage. (i have the 7 in hdd nav too and wish i didn't) if you can optionally get no nav or radio jump on that and install something (anything) yourself, yes the whole nav unit is that useless.

personally i'm thinking about the kenwood dnx9990hd or the alpine ine-z928hd

I agree. It's not even as nice as the one on my old Corvette from 2000. It is totally not worth the added price if you do not want the other items in those packages. I'd recommend saving the cash. :)
