Instrumental Cluster Brightness

I have a 2020 Prius Prime LE.

Per the manual on page 194, the instrument control brightness should be dependent on ambient light conditions. 2 Levels in bright places and 22 levels in dark places. This would suggest an ambient light sensor on the dashboard would control this function. This is how it worked in my 2013 Prius. This doesn't seem to work in the 2020 Prius Prime LE. I understand that I don't have Auto Headlight, but the manual suggest these are two independent functions. I also didn't have auto headlights in my 2013 Prius, but the instrument control brightness still changed depending on whether or not I was in a bright or dark place.

Any insight would be appreciated.
