Ok this will be the first time that IPA/APGS is offered in a vehicle that the average person can afford so I thought I'd compile the tips found in the manual into this thread. If you can't be bothered to read the manual or if you just want to save time (and let's be honest, there's an entire section dedicated to IPA), you're in the right place :D

    New Features:

This version of IPA is equipped with a Pre-Support feature which allows quicker and easier operation of the IPA function. It is up to you to decide whether you want to use the Pre-Support feature or just activate the IPA on its own.

    Pre-Support:

This feature is activated via the IPA button located beneath the POWER button.

    • To activate parallel-parking mode, press the IPA button once

    • To activate the perpendicular parking mode (back-up mode), press the IPA twice

Pressing the IPA button a third time will turn the Pre-Support system off.

When activated, Pre-Support will measure the parking space and prompt you with a soft beep and on-screen instructions as to how to proceed with the parking function. Follow the on-screen instructions. Keep in mind that you have to stay below 9mph or 15km/h for the Pre-Support to work.

If everything is to your liking, press OK and relinquish the steering wheel. The IPA function will start.

Control the vehicle speed with your brake pedal while looking around the vehicle to ensure that no one is in the path of the moving vehicle.

IPA will prompt you with "The guidance is finished" when the vehicle is roughly in the spot. At this time, reestablish control of the steering wheel and position the vehicle properly (e.g. centre the vehicle if parallel parking) if necessary.

    Without Pre-Support:

This one requires a bit more work and functions like previous iterations of IPA/APGS.

    Parallel Parking:

    1. Pull slowly alongside the intended spot ~ 3ft/1m away from the parked vehicles. The front sensors are measuring the spot to facilitate in identifying the targeted parking position
    2. Stop your vehicle when you can see the leading edge of the vehicle in front of your spot (i.e. the stop when you're sitting parallel to the front edge of the car). Keep the steering wheel straight
    3. Shift into R and touch the parallel-parking assist button to activate IPA
    4. Ensure that the frame is green and highlights the area that you want to park. The flag and the pole indicates the rear corner of the vehicle ahead of the spot you wish to park in. If the frame is red, adjust the frame until it is green. Touch OK when ready.
    5. If you're parking on the other side of the road, press the "switch sides" button on the screen.
    6. Control the vehicle speed with your brake pedal while looking around the vehicle to ensure that no one is in the path of the moving vehicle.
    7. IPA will prompt you with "The guidance is finished" when the vehicle is roughly in the spot. At this time, reestablish control of the steering wheel and centre the vehicle in the spot

    Perpendicular Parking:

    1. Move the vehicle slowly close to the parking stalls. The front sensors are measuring the spaces to better identify the parking space. It can detect it even if there's only one car parked on either side of the vehicle
    2. *Move until you can see the centre of the parking stall beside you
    3. Then position your vehicle so that you can enter the parking stall easily and stop the vehicle with the steering wheel straight. (At this point, your vehicle is angled relative to the stall)
    4. Shift to R and press the "Back-In" assist button on the screen.
    5. Ensure that the frame is green and highlights the area that you want to park. The flag and the pole indicates the corner of the vehicle beside the spot you wish to park in. If the frame is red, adjust the frame until it is green. Touch OK when ready.
    6. There are times where the green frame may not overlap the white lines exactly. In this case, attempt to match it as closely as possible and ensure that the warning flag/pole does not overlap any parked vehicles or obstacles.
    7. Control the vehicle speed with your brake pedal while looking around the vehicle to ensure that no one is in the path of the moving vehicle.
    8. IPA will prompt you with "The guidance is finished" when the vehicle is roughly in the spot. At this time, reestablish control of the steering wheel and ensure that the vehicle is properly position in the spot.
*If there are no cars beside the spot you want to park in or small cars that were not detected by the sensors, stop when you can see the centre of the parking spot with your steering wheel straight. This assists the IPA function in better detecting the parking position.

    Notable Issues:
Please note that peforming the following functions will cancel the guidance.

    • Moving the steering wheel
    • Using the accelerator
    • Moving the shifter out of R
    • Applying the parking brake
    • Switching MFD screens
    • Receiving a handsfree call
