I like the tech stuff on the Excell but the Leather seat thing does not interest me at all.

Am I missing something? What is t he point of them? Are they more comfortable? Do they require maintaining like leather shoes th a t need waxing? Are they ok in hot and cold weather?

Are t hey more comfortable than cloth seats for long journeys?

I've had leather seats in UK before now in a Nissan. They were very comfortable, feeling neither too hot, not too cold with our seasonal variations, (not to mention, the whole year). We did some trips of 3-500 miles at a time without noticing the seats, so don't think longer journey would be a problem for you. The dealer's will try to sell you snake oils and cleaners for the leather, but in three years mine never got polished, oiled or any special treatment and they looked almost like new when we swapped vehicles. Real leather is very hard wearing.

As far as comfort goes, it's more to do with seat design than the finish material, but on balance I'd prefer leather even though it costs more. BTW, my Prius has cloth seats and I have no problem with those. Hope that helps.
