Guys was needing some advice on the Prius that won’t go into gear. P0A7A Code

Took it into Toyota and they’re saying the Inverter went out which caused the transmission to seize and it loosened a bearing.

They’re quoting me $11,500 to fix, it’s a 2011 with 215k so that’s definitely out of the question.

I’m curious if the inverter recall would cover the repairs possibly since they did say the inverter went out which most likely caused the transmission to stop which apparently made a bearing get loose as they hear grinding when they’re pushing it in and out of the shop.

    Any feedback much appreciated!

Sounds like classic Stealership cluelessness... I bet if you take it to a hybrid specialist you'll get a totally different and way less costly diagnosis.

That diagnosis really smells fishy!!! I can't figure out how the inverter could make that transaxle seize. Dropping some washers or gravel into the fill hole could do it. But if the inverter quits, the motors just loose power and spin.
