Invinca-Shield in North Wilkesboro, NC are looking to modify the pattern for the 2004 Prius. They are however finding it difficult to locate someone nearby with the car. They need to see the car in person to lay a pattern over the car for markup.

If anyone is in the nearby area, please contact Mac at email address [email protected]. Mac and I have discussed meeting in Knoxville, a 2 hr drive for me and 3 hr drive for him. But I suggested posting here to attempt to find someone closer.

If anyone is able to meet with Mac to let him review the patterns, please email him. Or forward this message to others who might.

    Thanks

I wasn't sure where North Wilkesboro was, so I looked on Mapquest:

Perhaps one of the Columbia (Mike or Paul) area Prius owners could meet him up in Charlotte.

Were they offering a free Invinca-Shield kit in exchange?

I looked it up, too. Wilkesboro is about 5 hours from me. I might be willing to make the trip if I get a free invinca-shield out of it :)

The trip to Charolotte, that is.

I put in my offer to go, but if Saturday won't do, I'm not going...

Well, the car was measured, but I didn't ask about when the new pattern would be shipping.

I did volunteer to have one fitted to my car in case they needed to double-check anything...

I just visited invinca-shield's website, and it's now showing a 3 piece bumper kit instead of 2.

Ah. That's exactly how he traced it onto the masking tape...

The 2-piece pattern had install problems. With 3 pieces, they lay out better, I guess.

One thing I noticed was the piece that curved around to the side of the car laid out flat while on the car, but the 3-dimensional aspect became apparent when removed. There's probably going to be slits made in the plastic, which will have to be folded into place for it to sit flat on the car again. This may be where 3 pieces will allow flexibility in installing that 2 pieces didn't provide...

Received my replacement front bumper Invinca-shield pieces yesterday and just finished installing them--whooo what a difference! Very well designed and much easier to install. Finally figured out how to stretch this stuff into place--I use the soap solution where it needs to stretch, then squirt a little alcohol solution just beyond, lay it into place and use the flat of my hand to push and stretch it how I want, the area with alcohol solution tacks down very quickly and holds the stretch, allowing you time to squeegee it down. Worked like a charm, wish I had figured it out on the earlier pieces and they would be even better.
