Invitation to Celebrate Prius with us on 10-10-10

    We have a special opportunity for those of you interested in attending the 10 Years of Prius celebration on 10-10-10 in Malibu, CA.

    Many of you had seen the contest we ran on Facebook this summer and followed the announcement that the winner was in the LA area. The event is now scheduled and details are in motion.

    Since we know how important the Prius Chat community is when it comes to celebrating all things Prius, we wanted to open a few slots up to those who might be interested.

    To express your interest, send a private message to the Prius Team by 5 p.m. PST Friday, September 24th. We will choose those respondents with the highest total number of Prius Chat posts since the site's launch (it pays to be an active member!).

    If you are selected, you will be asked to email us on Monday September 27th with your name, your guest's name, address, phone number and email in order to obtain the event details.

    The event is being held from 2pm into the evening (includes dinner) in Malibu, CA and participants will be responsible for the cost of travel to and from the event so please only send in your interest if you are prepared to get yourself to the event and are committed to attending (i.e., don't steal a spot from another Prius Chat member who could attend if you don't).

    We hope to see some of you on 10-10-10 to celebrate the past, present and future of Prius.

    Hmmmm...I'll be in San Francisco the day before for the Green Drive Expo....my post total shouldn't be an issue. ;)

    edit: I assume it's alright to ask a couple of questions here: What's the approximate driving time from the event in Richmond to the event in Malibu? Nothing was mentioned about accommodation on Sunday night. The beach is plenty warm enough this time of year, right? :)

    Its more than 300 miles, malibu is in southern california. Beach should be warm enough, but I'm not sure if you will get arrested.

    @FWD: No but it makes it easy to remember.. 10-10-10. I'd ask John1701a for the exact date.. he probably knows since he took one of the first ones (I think HTMLSpinnr also took one of the first ones)

    Oh sure, I'll drive over 5,000 miles from Montreal, Canada ! Not...

    How come the East Coast never gets any love? Boston is just a half day drive for me.

    Or a planned Prius Drive through the Vermont mountains?

    Reuters Oct 15th 2011 :
    Some 500 participants, from the US and Canada, all driving the Toyota Prius of multiple generations, participated in a charity event called Hills For Bills for Diabetes, driving on the 89 from Burlington, VT to White River Junction, and back.

    Some enthusiasts set about breaking MPG records, while others simply set the cruise control, enjoying the view of the mountains and the fall change of colors.

    Over 10,000$ was raised in memory of T.J., a fellow user of PriusChat.com and Prius owner that passed away due to complications arising from diabetes and a severe skin burn.

    how about something for the east coast?

    subaru had events at their warehouse in westampton NJ

    maybe if toyota has a warehouse on the east coast they could do the same?

    Yeah the east coast never gets any love. Very few cool things ever happen over here. But I guess having the party in Malibu CA is better than having it in the middle of nowheresville.
