You can check the Priuschat Shop for parts that will allow you to hook you iPod into where the SAT radio would go or

Go to any electronics store, buy a short AUX cable, for $5 or so. Inside the center console, there is a little flap with AUX written on it, open it and there will be a green hole there. Plug the cable in, plug the other end into your iPod and switch to AUX on the dash. Should be good to go, only thing is, you have to change the songs through the iPod wheel.

Simplest way is to buy a male-male connector from Radioshack or the equivalent and connect the iPod to the AUX jack in the center console. You can buy a connector that plugs into the iPod earphone plug or one that plugs into the digital interface (where you sync to iTunes). You have to put your stereo in AUX mode. Use the search function and you will find about a hundred threads on the topic - to include more advanced/integrated options that display song information on the MFD or allow you to use the steering wheel controls.

quick tip: if you use the connection method where you use the male to male connector through the headphone output on the iPod you will have to adjust the volume on the iPod to at least 3/4 of the volume for a good clean signal.

This may or may not be obvious, but be sure to get a 3.5mm-3.5mm cable that is Stereo. Some are mono only.

"i am a total newbie & and i went to a discount/outlet store how do i know if the 3.55mm to 3.55mm cable is stereo or not"

on the end of the aux cable there is a black ring.

    one black ring is mono
    two black rings are stereo

Some AV 3.5mm cables also have three rings, one for video, the other two for stereo audio. Usually this type has three RCA jacks on the other end though. I have yet to see a 3.5mm-3.5mm AV cable.

When in doubt, read the package. It should say Stereo or Mono.

Oh, and for iPod, I think the AV 3.5mm cable is non-standard. So if you want to also output video you'll need to get an Apple cable to be sure.
