Is this a good deal?

I have a chance to buy a 2007 Package 2 with 14,000 miles on it for $25,000. I've been trying to research the value on line but I get different prices depending on which website I use. The dealers in my area seem to be asking between $2000 and $3000 over msrp and want a $500 non-refundable deposit just to get on a waiting list for a new vehicle. I had an offer to purchase a 2007 with 53,000 miles on it for $27,899 -- a package 2 -- but I declined.

Can any of you more seasoned Prius owners weigh in?

I would try to venture out into NC or AL to try to find a NEW one MSRP. There are still dealers selling at MSRP and a $180 plane ticket may be worth the savings of $2-4k.

If you are DESPERATE for a prius, then it is fair.

That puts it in perspective. Thanks.

    No problem.

Let me just say that most dealers or others can sell a USED prius for over MSRP because you can get the car today.

I am of the opinion that it would be much wiser to wait a month or two and get something NEW, and what you WANT. I would never want to borrow/place $24,000 and I don't even have a say as to what color/interior/features it has.

Beware of the feelings of instant gratification, it is well worth the wait. I am sure you find some dealers that will give you MSRP and a fair (1-3 month) wait time.

The Prius is in high demand right now and it really is a seller's market. Be careful and think with your wallet and get a new one.

    2000-3000 over MSRP?..... no
    nonrefundable deposit?..... no
    27899 for a 53000-mile 07?..... NO!
get in line get a new one at MSRP. if u need a car now, buy a $1000 beater car and use it for 3 months until the prius arrives... thats what i'd do if i'm in the market.. just my .02 tho....
