Everytime I start my 06, I only move 5 to 10 feet and the engine starts up. I have no accessories on, and feather the gas pedal. The status shows at least 5 or more bars. I thought electric would propel me some distance at first.......but it doesn't.

actually, if the ice is fully warm, you should be able to go for a ways before it starts. as desmond says, the more battery, the more distance. you could have a bad hybrid or 12v battery. how are your mpg's?

No, this is completely normal. The Gen II is designed to start the ICE after 7 seconds. It will do this every time you start it no matter what the engine temp is. If the engine is at an acceptable operating temp, it will shut it down and go into S4 (full hybrid mode) in 7 seconds. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your car.

okay, i misinterpreted 'start my car'. desmondlee and usnavystgc are correct. my comments are for post warm up. but if you have had the car for awhile and the behavior has changed, let us know.

I love it when people say that (because it happens so seldom). :)
