Looking at the thread on naming your cars, it strikes me that there are many more female names. Just wonder if that is right overall?

I think to most, cars are typically seen as 'female'. I decide whether a car is male or female based on its color. Black, blue, silver, dark green, gold, orange = male; red, light green, white, purple, yellow = female. My Prius will be black, like my current car, and will therefore be male as well. :D :p

My first car was an '82 Maxima that said things such as "Lights are on" and "Door is open" in a computer-generated female voice. All my subsequent cars have been female, following in "her" footsteps!

Lol, that's too funny. My first car was an 85' Maxima and it did that same thing in a female voice "fuel level is low, right/left door is open, lights are on..." I've always considered my cars to be female and now I think I know why...

The first day I drove her, she warned me that the lights were on as I was getting out. I actually thanked her out loud...and then nearly died laughing. Somehow, that feature never came out during the test drive....

My car doesn't seem to have any sexual bits and pieces so I think that it may just be an inanimate object. I've never been into the naming of cars or other things.

With me, I usually tend to think cars are "female" and trucks are "male"- depending on "their" character LOL

My Escape's were "Superman the Escape", named after the "SUPERMAN THE GREAT ESCAPE" at Six Flags Magic Mtn hehe

My car is neither male nor female. It is a car, for crying out loud! And until cars learn how to copulate and multiply, they will never have gender.

Way too funny!!! I miss the sexy "fuel level is low" of my '86 Maxima. Some of my friends still make fun of that car!

Wait 'til they get a load of my new Prius. I can hear the ribbing now. I don't dare name it or refer to it as he or she. :p

my Prius has progressed to a point that no longer recognizes gender bias. just as the Star Trek Enterprise has gone where no man has gone before... the Prius has progressed to a level before any others and exists as an example of how things can be.

now we only have to continue to progress in the Prius' wake but to label our progress is a mistake. labels create biases in our minds because labels only signify what classifications we have put the Prius in. that only leads to fruitless comparisons and inane categories like super ultra low. do we really want a super duper ultra low??

it would be easier to look at the Prius as the watershed event that it is. it was not a result of change. its the event that results in change.

While the NAV voice is feminine, I never think of my Silver Cloud as gendered. It is a Prius.

Although my Prius doesn't have a sex, it does have a gender: it is an "it". A very nice "it" but an "it" nonetheless.

And I enjoy "it" very much.

It's a hybrid, to the core of its being. It may not transcend gender ethereally, but it does juxtapose the highest faculties of both genders.

Seeing that the KITT was an acronym for Knight Industries Two Thousand, we need to find a Prius related one for you.
