Hey all, I'm "new" here as a member but have been on the forum many times over the years. I got a code for needing my ABS Accumulator replaced and have been driving as is for the past few months. It's getting louder and running almost consistently, needing to be replaced asap. It's an '04 Prius with 133,000 miles. I bought it last year with 103,000 miles..

I'm in Huntsville AL but can drive 3-5 hours either direction. Looking for either a "real" shop or someone here on the forum who has done the job before who wants to make some extra cash that's not the Toyota dealer. I know this replacement isn't too hard but I just moved to a new apartment complex so can't do major work here as I could at my previous house and all my tools were stolen recently from my storage unit pre-move...so, I'm here.

Side note: I was thinking of selling it and "upgrading" to a newer Prius, but with current prices, it doesn't make sense and I know these 2nd gen Prius' can last hundreds of thousands of miles.

    Thanks!

I don't have a mechanic recommendation for you but I went through this recently and saved a good bit of money by buying the part online from EB Toyota for about $1k. I messaged a few local mechanics for the install via Yelp and ended up paying $500.

This is not an easy procedure. I'd only consider a mechanic who has experience with a Prius. If you find someone relatively close to Atlanta, please post details as mine will likely need replacing soon too. There is a hybrid repair shop near Atlanta, but I didn't get a great impression when speaking with them a few times inquiring about other repairs.

Try Posey's Garage Huntsville, looks to specialize in Toyota's, but not a Toyota dealer.
