    * big grin *

    Darn, I already drove almost 500 kilometers yesterday and today... and I have to admit they were not all really necessary. Shame on me. But it's too much fun to drive this car.

    thanks for the thumbs up!

    Congradulations!! :multi: :jester: :multi: I am still grinning a week later. My wife thinks I am sick and obsessed. You can take those extra trips with out a lot of guilt. Its not easy being green. :mrgreen: All that smugness makes people want to hit you. 8)

    A perfect slogan for a Prius shirt! Surprisingly a few minutes of Googling did not turn up one already available.

    When we first got our car we put on a lot of kilometres, too. Country roads, city traffic jams, highways, I tried them all -- in the name of "testing" of course. I visited friends and family members all over town to show it off.

    I hope you enjoy your new toy, too.

    Congrats on your new car. And thanks for changing your avatar. The old one kind of gave me the creeps. Those extra kms you drive the car when it's brand new, you get to justify as "learning" so as to be able to drive "more safely" when you do your "real" driving. Enjoy! (I'm still enjoying mine 7 months later ... though I don't put on extra miles ... I'm still < 5000 miles.)

    No problem, daniel. But it *was* (a bit) how I felt about waiting... :D

    And after some 500 kms I'm finally able to coast most of the time when I want to. Average MPG is now 47, but that's with around 200 kms highway driving in Germany at 84 MPh, so I don't think it's a bad score at all.

    Somehow it never occured to me that that's what it was. But now that you say it I certainly understand.

    I was lucky: I expected a 5-month wait; when the dealer told me 12 weeks I didn't believe him; when it arrived in 9 weeks I was stunned. But this was more than half a year ago.

    Congratulations! Was your Prius ordered or they just called you and asked if you wanted one they had?

    It was ordered and then the contract is binding, so it's no use shopping around, because if I had cancelled my order I would have to pay 15% of the price...
