I was looking on the Carson Toyota website and found a box they can import from Japan that appears to be fitted to the cargo area of the 05 Prius. It's not cheap (with the inserts $260), but does look like it would be very nice. Anyone purchased one? What do you think of it?

    Thanks,
    Ken

How about some links so we know what you are talking about . . . and also so we all don't need to individually hunt it down.

Yes, that's the link. I thought of putting a link it...but then I thought that the people I was addressing the question to...people that HAD the box...probably wouldn't need a link :)

But, yes, that's the box. If anyone has it I'd be interested in knowing their opinions.

Those are interesting. I was thinking the Japan box should be a perfect fit for the car. I just wish I could see one before shelling out 250.

I found this item on the Toyota Japan website at http://toyota.jp/prius/dop/interior/other.html

It looks like there are actually TWO different products here
In Pic2 you can see the "box" inserted LOW in the trunk space - I don't know about you, but my Spare Tire is there.
In Pic3, you see the "Dividers" - which look like they would fit.
    What do you think?

Both things fit into the black box that we have and not where the spare tyre is. I can't make out pic2... is it supposed to be some sort of briefcase-like box?

I just can't figure out if it is 1 or 2 prouducts. It does look like 2 separate items

    1. that sits below the cover and gives you a way to organize that area and could help to prevent stuff rolling around and...

2 A box that attaches to the rear of the hatch area. Giving you some sort of organized storage area back there.

If the 250 bought both items I would do it...although my guess is there's a substantial premium being charged because it's coming in from Japan.

150bucks but you need to pay shipping charge, which cost you additional 60 to 80bucks from Japan to U.S.
250 is bit too much but just about right.

    Speed,

I agree that the charge isn't out of line when you include the shipping from Japan. Now if I can figure out if you get 1 or 2 boxes :)

I dont know the weight but if its reasonable I can ship to you.
But I have to check with Post office and Toyota.

    Speed,

Thank you for the kind offer. I'm not so concerned about the price as I am about what it is I'm buying. Is it one box or two? The ad at Carson is pretty confusing and when I sent an email I didn't get a clear answer.
