I just bought a 2016 Camry Hybrid with 135 K. I 'm going to recondition the Battery, change the Transmission Fluid, replace the belts and radiator hoses. Anything else I should do? Can I put off the water pump or is now a good time?
this is the gen 4 forum. check the 12 volt and radiator hoses, make sure the spare is pumped up. brake fluid if it's not on the schedule. has all the regular maintenance been done through 120k?
From what I've heard about transmission fluid, if it hasn't been changed by now with 135,000 miles, you're best not changing it since that could cause problems with gear slipping
while we've had 3 hycams, we've never had them over 100k. i don't know how the pumps hold up compared to prius. if you're going to keep it a long time, why not change it. be careful about parts though, there's a ton of undetectable counterfeits out there.
You have a lot to learn about hybrids. Car Care Nut was talking about conventional transmissions that have clutches to slip and torque converters to shudder. Your Toyota hybrid eCvt has neither. In fact the gears are engaged all the time. What you do have are large electric motors/generators inside with planetary gear sets and a differential. A drain and fill with Toyota hybrid specific eCvt oil is recommended but not required every 50k.
View the video again. Look at 5:30 minute mark. The Car Care Nut is talking about a conventional automatic transmission with a torque converter and valve body. His video is not about an eCVT transaxle that is used in the Toyota hybrid cars. Edit: rjparker made his post while I was watching the video and composing my post.
