    We took a trip today which involved climbing from near sea level to 7,500 feet. Starting at 51 MPG the gauge then read 43MPG at the top of the hill. The trip back down is shown on this display. We had 30 minutes of near zero fuel consumption and 5 of those minutes were actually zero fuel consumption. The drive down is about 35 or more miles of twisty road.

    Very cool! Just shows what a looooooooong down-hill run can do.

    The problem with trying to post your pictures is how SmugMug handles display. It looks like the site queries the browser trying to view a picture and then show the correctly sized image. Your link to the second picture, which you uploaded, was:

    Downhill slopes are my favorite. The Prius does well...hope you did not use a lot of actual braking.

    Since our temps have been staying above freezing, my mpg has been improving every tank full.

    I didn't have too much choice but to do some breaking as there were tight turns, steep slopes, and following traffic. However I am starting to use some P&G which helped on the rolling flatland portion of the trip. I don't have P&G mastered yet but I can see it is helping.

    If he was anywhere near the western slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains then he could have easily been going 75mph downhill for a loooooong time. lol

    Between 25 and 45mph all the way. The road has many turns. Check out highway 18 leaving Big Bear Lake, CA on a map and you'll see.
