    Hi -
Just spoke to a nearby dealer who will sell me a package # 3 '07 , for 24,995. (sticker 26,359)
He has a package # 4 he would sell for 25,795. (sticker 27,181)

The package #3 is the dark magnetic grey..(he has 2 of those)..
the package #4 is sand color (Driftwood Pearl)

    Are these good prices ?
I did not tell him I had a trade in.

I also like the silver pine mica (green) but they don't have any.
    None of these have leather.
Did you say you could order special seat covers for the Prius in leather ?

Do most of you have your windows tinted at the dealer, since they don't come tinted from the factory ?

I have found some Priuses on Ebay, which are discounted. I was hoping to find one for 20K, ('06) but the ones on Ebay I would have to pay shipping and you really don't know what you are getting.

Should I take the plunge ? We'll see what happens tomorrow, and how I like them, etc..

    Thanks,
    pola

No, he can do quite a lot better for you ...

Even Edmunds TMV is $23,940 for the Pkg #3 you listed, $24,339 for the Pkg #4 you listed. Most on here seem to get better than that even ...

If leather is holding you back, check to see if there is an aftermarket leather shop near you. These do 95% dealer work and their work looks like a factory job.

I just bought an '07 package #5 but wanted the leather. I asked the dealer to look into it. He said he could do it for $950 which makes it even cheaper than package #7 (with leather). With aftermarket leather you could also specify exact color shade or whether you want perforated leather.

After it was installed, my salesman was just raving about how good it looked--even better than Toyota's factory leather.

Isn't there a special right now going on with $2000 off MSRP? They should at least give you that.

Also go with the package 3. For one, Magnetic Grey is the best color, 2, you really don't need to pay extra for the minimal features. I have the highest package available (for 2005) and rarely use the extra options...though the navigation did help me over the weekend to get to a few concerts.

You can definately do better. I got my package #6 at $25635 + tax (I traded in so I paid around $600) + registration fee ($150). My otd price was less than $26500. This is for package #6.

I bought a Prius on Monday. Last day or near last day of the month is best time to buy. I am told that all leather is aftermarket, or what they call "Port installed." It is not done by Toyota, but a contractor. I have leather. It is very thin, but I like it.

Only the top option package is factory leather (from Toyota).

You can definitely do better. Through Costco I paid $26,500 OTD for an '07 package #4. I think the sales price of the car was less than $24,300 to get to my OTD price. Keep negotiating and you can probably do better than I did! (I love the car and feel I got a great deal)

    Good Luck,

Pola, a Garmin C530 GPS unit can be found on amazon.com for $323. IMO you may find the extra gizmos are not as useful as they sound and if you have to buy 2 or 3 or 4 to get the thing you want you may be better off buying just the aftermarket parts you really do want.

    Hi Pola,

Just want to add to what JimN says above. I specifically got a #4 package because I already have a portable GPS (Garmin IQ3600) that I've used for years now. I paid over $500 for it when it was new, which is still quite a bit less than the GPS option available on most cars nowadays, Prius included. Just my own opinion here, but buying a portable has saved me quite a bit over paying for the added option in my last two cars (Acura and Prius). And if I go on a trip and have to rent a car, I can bring it with me and use it to navigate via voice prompts anywhere in the US and Canada with no extra costs incurred.

Bottom line, a portable GPS will probably save you 1/2 to 3/4 or more of the cost of adding a GPS option to the purchase price of your average new car, and you can use it in multiple cars and keep it after you replace your old car with a newer one.

    Just my .02

Let us know what you decide,

    cc B)
