Kenwood KSC-SW1

    I ordered the Kenwood KSC-SW1 today. I have read many post concerning how to install the Kenwood Sub-Woofer. I plan to install in the hidden deck on the under the carpet by the spare tire. I have few questions...

    1) What is the easiest method to connect to the rear door speaker(s) to power the sub-woofer?

    2) How do I remove panels to gain access to those wires and what are their colors?

    3) Does the sub-woofer have to be powered by both speakers or can you simply grap one of them for the sub-woofer.

    I pulled an old search showing the right rear speaker a Red/White and the rear left rear speaker Black/Yellow.

    I'm not an audio specialist, but I installed the XM Radio upgrade and it needs more bass.

    First, congrats on the upgrade. You'll love it.

    1. I connected the sub to the rear feed at the amp, which is under the passenger seat.

    2. Unplug the jack at the amp. You can work on tapping into the wires in the footwell of the rear seat. I don't remember the colors of the wires, but it was easy enough to figure out. I think I followed them as the went into the door (I don't remember having to remove the door panel, but I might have). The colors you mention sure sound familiar.

    3. I tapped into both speakers to make sure to capture bass from both channels. I'm not sure if this is necessary or not.

    It was your original post that motivated me to purchase the sub-woofer. If anyone has the wiring diagram for the JBL version with 9 speakers I would greatly appreciate it.

    I will post my experience after the project is complete.

    I ordered the [FONT='Calibri','sans-serif']KENWOOD KSC-SW1 DUAL 6.5" POWERED ENCLOSED SUBWOOFER which I plan to put under the front seats. I have NAV so I am not sure it will fit under the Drivers seat. I need detailed photos and exact wire locations and colors to pick up my signal and power for an 'O6 Prius. Thanks for any help.[/FONT]
