I've been trying to help my daughter with her 2001, but she live 2500 miles away and has her degree in religion. The problem is her alarm goes off for no reason 3 times yesterday and once while she was driving. She replaced the 12 volt battery last November

Right now, I'm thinking that one thread has promise, that is that the key fob is worn out and setting off the panic button circuit. One blogger said that he removed the battery and all was well. Others have said that this will work, but you need to replace the battery each time that you want to use the car. Doable, but I doubt the body of the fob will last, very long. My question is can she remove the battery from the fob and still use the car? Obviously, the remote entry won't work but worse things befall you than having to open the car with a key.

I'd sure appreciate any ideas that might be out there...this is maddening.
