One of my long-standing annoyances with electric windows is that
they don't work when the car's ignition is powered off. It turns
out that this is fairly easy to change in the Prius, and in a strange
but stealthy way. And we like stealth, yes we do.

Interesting hack. Can't say I'm really interested to do it as, knowing myself, I'd accidentally turn on the window power and then forget to turn it off, drain the battery, and be left cursing when i needed to get somewhere in a hurry.

This is nice, and good info, except for the side-effect of losing the door-function on the rear dome, and that it could be inadvertantly left on (since that's how I usually keep it).

It seems to me, if we could find another pin someplace that fits, would be to tap into the dome light, run it thru a switch (perhaps mounted on the middle button under the steering wheel) and then into pin 4. If it's a special switch I wouldn't worry about leaving it on, since I'd only turn it on in special cases and turn it off immediately. Could even make it a spring switch that returns to an off position when not held down. So the big question is, where can we get another pin of this type?
