hehe, okay im new here...long time browser but I wanted to register so i could post an interesting story. I dont know where else to post it so please a mod feel free to move it if it's in the wrong place...

All this info on hyper-miling has got me thinking what other areas i can apply this technique. the first being the shower. This morning int he shower I didnt use any water. just poured water on the soap so i could get a lather. then i rubbed it all over myself. then i plugged the drain and used a small cup full of water to rinse myself off. poured it over me then when it fell in the tub i scooped it up in the cup again and rinsed more of me off.

Please share your experiences where you "hyper-miled" with something so we can all learn

This is strangely disturbing. Even if I were to do such a thing I would never admit it in a public forum.

Well since you're still all soapy from rinsing yourself with the same cup of soapy water, you can 'hypermile' your use of soap with your next cup of water!:p

This is the reason Al Gore invented the internet.

I laughed quite hard, thanks, you are awesome.

Here's the tell: Take a "small cup of water" - dump it in a shower, then try to "scoop it up" again.

I have a live-in shower efficiency enforcer - my grandson. If he gets up and started with one of his long showers before me, I start losing hot water and scrub much faster. I then get to grumble at him over breakfast.

He, his siblings, and mom move out later this week. :)

Save it all by not bathing at all! Most mammals, most other primates don't, except for an occasional dust bath. Even most humans didn't start bathing regularly, or more than once a year, until quite recently.

Pulse and glide is very easy to do on the stove. Of course, just like automobiles it is more efficient and easy to do with an electric stove. Place the pot of food you wish to cook on top of the burner. Set the temperature as desired -- high, medium, etc. For best results use a temperature gauge (AKA thermometer). When the burner hits its max temperature, turn off the burner. When the temperature gauge shows a drop of 10 degrees, turn the burner back on. Repeat the process over and over until the cooking is done.
Optionally to save additional electricity, use a bicycle to generate the power.

There you have it: pulse and glide in the kitchen. Incidentally, this will also work in the shower to save on hot water.
    :)

I decided instead of hypermiling in other parts of my life I would simply do something that would help my regular Prius hypermiling.

First time my hair has been this short since I was a baby.
