Last night 11/7/2015 I hit something and now the gas gauge is messed up

    Last night I was driving home and there was a dead animal or something in the road. It was black and I didn't see it until I ran over it. It was a big thud. Like a speed bump. Front right tire. Nothing was damaged on the front of the car, it was lower than the fender/bumper. When I filled up with gas. At first it didn't show that it was full. Then it registered but the miles to fill is still reading 0. There are no other warning messages.

    This shouldn't happen by hitting a black speed bump. Do you use the distance to empty?

    It was most likely a javelina. The car was jarred. It has been working up until now. IT is just the miles to empty that is not working right now..

    I am just worried that it might break down on the way to work. I didn't have to drive it a lot today. I hit something and I was about 4 miles away from my house. I had paperwork and drove maybe thrre miles round trip. Its 54 miles to work in rural arizona.. and 54 miles back home.

    Javelinas are crazy.. might have been a dog too. But I think javelina

    try disconnecting the neg battery cable and see if it resets itself after a few starting cycles
