We've been wanting to get a bra for our 2010 Type V with Tech. Package. Our only concern is whether it would work with the Dynamic/Radar Cruise Control since the transmitter sits behind the Toyota emblem and would be covered by solid vinyl. We called 800-Toyota Customer Care and they say "NO"--won't work. I guess I'm surprised since the transmitter is sitting behind the plastic emblem to start with and I wouldn't think that a thin layer of vinyl would add that much attenuation.

Question: Has anyone out there with a 2010 or 2011 with the dynamic/radar cruise control tried a LeBra (or other brand) vinyl bra yet and has it had a negative effect on the performance of the radar

Why don't you do an experiment by attaching a piece of solid vinyl to the emblem?

Keep in mind that from what I understand, the radar system is not 'behind' the emblem, but actually has a very different emblem (at least when you look closely), where the whole emblem is part of the system itself.

That said, it may behoove you to simply excise a hole in the 'bra' the size and shape of the emblem.

Yes, the $900 emblem is part of the radar system and the OP wants to cover the emblem with the bra, so I suggested an experiment with a piece of solid vinyl to test whether or not it works.

Are you serious that the emblem is $900 by itself, or $900 for the entire module including the emblem?

Yes, it's indeed a $900 emblem and there has been at least one case of stolen emblem as a result.

Why don't you just have a Clear Bra installed instead? It looks better, protects better, won't rub the paint, won't affect the radar system, & won't hurt mpg. That sounds like a slam dunk to me. I had my prius done with a Clear Bra the first week we owned it. I even had them cover the entire hood for maximum protection. :D

So does the clear bra have any effect on either the radar or the intelligent parking assist?

Seems like the final poster concluded that $900 was for the entire radar system and the emblem was approx. $51....correct interpretation?

I came to the same conclusion.

No. I do know that packed snow/ice blocked the radar.

I don't have the radar or IPA on my Prius but I bet it would have no affect as it's a clear, thin film. All you would have to do would be to check with a local installer to make sure. ;) Since it's an option from Toyota I'd be willing to bet that it will work just fine with a Clear Bra installed.
