Pretty much satisfied with my Subaru Outback, but the real downer is the rear view camera and the reverse lights. Thinking about replacing the reverse lights with LED. Did that on my GEN2 Prius and it was a big improvement.. Any recommended LED brand? Do not recall what I used on the Prius.
you'll need to either pull the reverse bulb out or look-up what it currently is to find the LED equivalent. most LED equivalent has lumen output; you want the highest lumen output in 6K color spectrum (white light). I use 3K color spectrum for my LED fog lamps - yellowish amber glow that cut through fog like a knife.
Think she's looking for a recommendation on brands. There are lots of brands, don't know anything about any of them. Check the forums here for mentions?
I'm actually stunned that the Subie didn't already have LEDs for the backup lights. Post #2 is actually good advice. Either pull (or look up) the current lamp and work it from there - because you're probably going to need that specific light information to know what to replace it with - and THEN you can worry about temps, or which brand to use. I work with different LEDs (wavelengths instead of Kelvins) and I know next to nothing about automotive applications but I DO know that LED replacements can lead to electrical issues. (Keep the old bulbs for a bit) Perhaps a Subie forum might allow a wider net to be cast. If the backup lamps are dazzling the backup camera then film inside the taillights might be an option - or even an upgraded DIY camera replacement - which often as not can be significantly less than $200. The camera itself is dirt cheap, you're mostly paying for the harness adapter. Our friends at Crutchfield have advice for your year and there's also the Yoo-Tubes or the Ebays - which have drop-in replacements that 'claim' to be an upgrade. YMMV
