I have replaced my interior rear dome, cargo area and vanity lights with "festoon" style led bulbs in hyper white (HID, zenon...whatever). Presently waiting for the remainding bulbs to convert all my interior lights to white LED. I snapped this photo and you can really see the color difference. Front area is more or less yellow and the rear is a cool white. In the photo it appears that the front is brighter but in real life the rear area is much brighter, I guess the incandescent bulb fools the digital camera's sensor. The festoon lamps were purchased on ebay and were a snap to install. (paid $2.99 per pair + SH) Bought the last 2007 on the lot and took ownership 11/24/2007. Got more than $2500 off MSRP...

Hey, does anyone know what the light sizes are for the both interior dome ligts, and the two door lights. I am going to go LED on all of them at once, but do not want to have to take it apart just to find out the sizes.

    Thanks for any help.

Can you tell us who the vendor is and if there's a means of direct
contact, for those of us who don't do ebay?

It's not in TFM, IIRC, and that "guide" apparently only lists replacement options for headlight lamps, not any of the various different size interior lamps. Darrelldd would know, but if we can get the LEDs for $2.99 then his production will be out of business (again) ;)

I life the look of that a lot. My wife asked me when I first bought the Prius (last month) if it had LED lights. We were looking at getting her an Aspen (gas guzzler) and the one thing that she loves the most about that was that it had LED lights (interior) from the factory.

Darell has a list of the interior bulbs on his website. He also has a statement that he is no longer producing his LED replacements.

I bought two LED replacements for the door puddle lights from superbrightleds.com, but haven't got around to installing them yet.

I also installed LEDs last night which I purchased from eBay from this vendor: http://cgi3.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...serid=cal-motor

I am very happy with the level of brightness and whiteness of these LED bulbs. I replaced the dome lights and door courtesy lights. Since I was not able to readily access the license plate lamps on the Prius, I installed the LEDs on my Lexus SC430. The California license plate, being on a white background, stands out real well on LEDs.

I will try to figure out how to access the license plate lamps on the Prius. I suspect it is merely snapping off the plastic panel cover inside the liftgate. Anyone who knows for sure, can you please confirm and tell me if there's a special technique to pry it open?

Yeah it really is "just pry it open" but it requires a lotta patience (and in my case, a few plasters/bandaids). After I got the black cover off, twisting the bulbs was ridiculously tedious. I had to get my dad to twist it off for me cause I wasn't strong enough. Before putting the bulb base back, I sprayed WD-40 liberally over the ring so that I can twist it off more easily in the future should I need to replace the bulbs.

I'm really intrigued by the idea of switching to LED's. I wonder what the normal lifespan will be. With flashlights they often talk about 20,000 hours. But with the type of LED's used here, I wonder if it's only a fraction of that?

If we get the sizes figured out, an LED "Group Buy" would seem to be a "Brilliant" idea :) How would we set it up?

I would say to start by talking with both Danny or one of the other PriusChat moderators as well as the distributor (or manufacturer) of the LED lights and see if we can set up a group buy. One of the mods would probably set up a thread on the group buy to see what amount of interest there is in the LED's, and it would probably go from there.

To do a group buy, at least from the vendor mentioned, you would
have to get in touch with that vendor in all likelihood. Thus
    my question still stands.

Do any of these LEDs fade out?

Oops, you're right, that was my mistake. I didn't look through that site far enough. BUT, it's still not in the manual. Anyway, it looks like this thread lists the bulb types fairly well.

In addition to the "group buy" requests, maybe some enterprising individual wants to buy bulbs in bulk and put together "Prius Packs," with all the bulbs needed for the whole car? That might be an item for the PC shop...

I have been contacting some guys on ebay trying to find someone who has every type, but I think they are to lazy to look at the list. I would rather pay a little more and buy a package that has ALL the lights I need rather than buying some here and some there.

Yeah, any of the cheap, unregulated ones would. The ones that will be bright and will last... won't fade.
