I'm looking to buy LED bulbs for my rear license plate. I've scoured this forum but I'm still completely lost, without a collective answer.

What type of bulb will fit?
    Where do I buy from?
Which direction does the light need to shine? Does the light need to shine only from the tip of the bulb, or all sides?
Most importantly, I need something that won't burn out. I never want to have to rip out my hatch panel to replace it again. Will LEDs with a built-in heat sink help prevent this?

Please tell me your experiences, I'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks.

Uhm, I've already advised you of this. The Lights are the same wedge-based 194 bulb type. They need to be side-emitting for best effect.

    Something like THIS works fine.
