LEDs and MPG

Definitely not worth the expense. The amount of energy that goes toward lighting pales in comparison to things like rolling resistance, air resistance, and even the tiniest change to your driving habits. Yes, some energy would be saved. I'm just saying it would be far too little to notice.

 

You would be better off buying lighter shoes, or dropping a few pounds on an expensive diet plan. As the previous poster said, it's just not worth the expense and effort. I do like LED lighting, and use it extensively on our boat, where current draw is a big factor. Some day they will be standard on cars.

Has anyone noticed that LED lights appear to flicker? Sort of anoying to look at, but I am not sure if all see this or not. Not as bad as being stopped behind a deisel at a red light though.

Tail lights and parking lights are 5w each, not so much difference.

Will eventually be of interest for MPG marathons and such, because in that world 100 watts saved is a big deal. The smaller peripheral lighting will save less, but vendors are quick to remind us of their other minor advantages. Suit yourself.
