Featured Lexus Panned in funny/fake SNL Commercial

All we get is this - but it's 2020, I'll have a laugh anyway:

 

What was the problem with the commercials? I don't see anything particularly controversial.

 

The idea that people can go out and buy a car as a gift without consulting their partner.

 

Reminds me of some of the old VW and FORD KA commercials - which are deemed politically incorrect. (But are still on YouTube).

 

I was thinking about the evil Sport Ka ones just yesterday.

It was obviously tongue in cheek.

 

I wonder if it was one of the self charging ones. If so, it would have been a great selling point to the wife.

 

I like the bit about him losing his job due to COVID, a year too early. The archetypical, set-upon "every man".

 

Just proves Toyota/Lexus has a great PR devision and that Lexus just made a huge marketing campaign on SNL. December to Remember is a huge annual event for Lexus!

 

I used to run into that issue a lot when we lived in Honduras. It's a licensing thing.
