At age 75.7, I have a vested interest: How Life Expectancy in Republican States Compares to Demo... - Newsweek

Residents in Democratic-voting states experience an average life expectancy of more than two years longer than their Republican counterparts, according to a Newsweek analysis of World Population Review data.

The data shows, on average, that people living in states in which former President Donald Trump won in 2020 had a life expectancy in 2023 of 75.5 years, versus 77.7 years for those in states that backed President Joe Biden.

Life expectancy in the U.S. fell in 2020 and 2021, eliciting concern across the health and political spectrum. Whilst other developed countries also saw their life expectancy decline in 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, most saw a recovery the following year. American life expectancy is now lower than that of dramatically poorer countries such as Cuba and Lebanon.

People in blue states don't live longer.
    It only SEEMS longer.

If you want to know why people strain their eyeroll muscles when they're being told to "trust the science" it is because of the trainwreck of stories like Newsweek........

The warranty on humans is about the same as it was in biblical times:
    Threescore and ten.

Follow the bible's advise about moderation, avoiding sloth, saving, tithing, and you will be healthier, and wealthier, and happier and if you suffer a late-in-life health crisis then you will have more money in the bank to get better health outcomes.

While I wish the difference was 20 years and not two years let's instead focus on financial challenges rather than political gullibility... Because nothing will weaken your immune system and shorten your lifespan faster than being in debt in ways that make everyday a battle to get through without having the means to do so: Map Shows Which States Are Most 'Financially Distressed' - Newsweek

Also keep in mind that your outlook has more to do with your life expectancy than you might think. If most of you had to live on my annual income you'd think your life was over, but for me, I feel so blessed to be doing so much better than ever before.

Another example that I saw in the parking lot of walmart yesterday... If someone had posted this wrecked Prius on PriusChat we'd be think it might be totaled. But from the perspective of the person who owns this Prius, things are probably going better than they expected when it comes to keeping their wrecked car on the road.

republican states tend to be poorer and less educated, which translates to bad diets, which contribute to a variety of health problems, reducing average life expectancy

Tyrants are entirely dependent on dumb people... The last newspaper article by journalist and US citizen Kashogi before MBS cut him into pieces at the embassy was about how Saudi Arabia maintains its monarchy by keeping citizens unededucated and un-informed about how much wealth their country has stolen from them and how it won't change until they learn more.

I recently met a woman who believes some other women are “witches.” We are not that far removed from the dark ages. But natural selection still works and one metric is lifespan.

Historically "witches" is a label that influential men placed on women who they think had become too powerful and needed to be eliminated. This was especially common in Europe after the hundred years war, as well as many other wars when the deaths of men at war at an early age became so common that women were the only people still around to organize and lead their villages. Somewhere between 50K and 9 Million women were murdered for this crime. Witch-hunts in early modern Europe (circa 1450-1750) - Gendercide

So, as always, I'll caution all men to not talk about what they know or don't know about women and their perspective on what a witch is... It's an area of discussion where ya'll have literally murdered your way out of accountability because you were murdering too much.

As usual @Hayslayer isn't thinking clearly and posting stuff devoid of a clear explanation or basis of relevance.

My point wasn't to say anything (mean or nice) about Hayslayer, but just to ask for the missing information on what the graphics depict. Presumably Hayslayer put them there thinking they're relevant, and maybe they are; I've no way to tell.

Goes along with the OP. I figured looking at it with a bit of thought would make it obvious. Straight from the last Census information. Think of demographics. White, African American, Latino. Think about what life habits could skew the life expectancy numbers.

Wouldn’t mind a few more clues regarding the above maps.

‘Nother thought: there’s a fellow who’s defense shield is the term “witch-hunt”. What he actually means by it, or why he incessantly employs it, might be of interest to psychiatrists.

Minor correction as the label is not limited to just "men." No problem with the rest but ignorance and bile is an equal opportunity employer (aka. Congress-critter Marjorie Taylor Green, Virginia Foxx.) For example:
    • Kellyanne Conway's daughter: In a June 2024 social media post, Claudia Conway, daughter of former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, stated that she had heard Clinton called a witch so often that she once believed all witches were named Hillary.

Still no explanation? Ever hear of a "legend" that maps use to explain what the color coding means? Beyond that you're a very racist person because you just equated race demographics as a form of "life habits" that could skew life expectancy. I bet you didn't even notice and no you'll get defensive about being called a racists because that's the first rule in the racist play book.

Well, those maps all include the legend on the right that connect the color shades to percentages.

I'm guessing the text or caption that explained percentages of what? just wasn't part of the images that Hayslayer copy-pasted. Maybe just a little extra work got overlooked.

Yeah, you're right... There is a partial legend, but what happened to the actual title of the maps?
