On some of my posts, such as http://priuschat.com/index.php?act=ST&...=36343&st=0, the links I pasted in using the editor, show up as the url rather than a link to the highlighted word. Other times, the link facility works.

    What is going on?

Speculation: The URL in question has a space in the name. Maybe the Editor does not like this.

That was it! Replacing the space with an underscore made the link behave properly.

Thanks for leaving me to learn this on my own.

In general, try to simplify in-site post links down as short as
possible. Take out the session IDs and extra trash, definitely
don't have spaces or substitute %20, and you can always go re-edit
a message and check for the URL tags. Generally, a reference to
/index.html?showtopic=NNNNN&st=offset will be able to zero right in
on a particular post, and still show the thread surrounding it.
You can either just type it in and it will show up as a link as is,
or hide it behind other word.
